Privacy policy
Last updated November 7, 2026
Landkeep is a conservation prospecting tool for land trusts, run by Linda Nichols. This policy explains what Landkeep collects when you use it, why, and what happens to it. Questions or requests: info@landkeep.org.
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. Anything you add on your account page: organization, website, role, service area, conservation focus, and whether your organization holds easements.
- Sign-in. When you ask for a sign-in link, a one-time token, stored only as a hash. When you sign in, a session record with your IP address and browser type.
- What you view and export. A record of which county shortlists and parcels you open and what you export, with the time and the number of parcels. This lets us enforce fair-use limits and answer questions about how the data is used. It contains parcel and county IDs, never owner names.
- Abuse protection. Your IP address in rate-limit counters, so repeated requests can be slowed down. The sign-in form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser to tell people from bots.
Landkeep has no advertising, no analytics or tracking scripts, and no marketing email. The only cookie it sets is the session cookie that keeps you signed in. Cloudflare may set its own cookie on the sign-in form for the security check.
Landowner information
Parcel data comes from public records through landrecords.us. Landkeep reads owner names and mailing addresses only to work out scoring signals, such as owner type and whether the owner lives out of state, and then discards them. Owner names and addresses are never stored, shown, or exported.
Who can see your information
Only Linda Nichols, who runs Landkeep. It is never sold, rented, or shared for marketing, and it is not shared with landrecords.us. Landkeep relies on these service providers to run:
- Cloudflare: hosting, the database, the Turnstile security check, and sending sign-in emails.
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google. Google shares your name, email, and profile picture with Landkeep, and never your password.
We will disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Sign-in links: deleted once used. Unused links expire after 10 minutes and are cleared regularly after that.
- Sessions: deleted when you sign out. Otherwise they expire after 30 days and are cleared regularly after that.
- Rate-limit counters with IP addresses: cleared regularly once a day has passed since the last request.
- Cached county parcel data: deleted after one day.
- Your account and your view and export record: until you ask us to delete your account.
Your choices
You can change your account details at any time on your account page. To get a copy of your information or delete your account and its records, email info@landkeep.org from the address on your account. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
Landkeep is a tool for land trust staff and is not meant for anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change. If a change affects how your information is used, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
